Lower Dolpo Trekking

Lower Dolpo Trekking is located in the western part of Nepal in Dolpo Regin which occupies beautiful Phoksundo Lake, Classical Dho Trap village, ancient Bon religion, and scenic valley with white Himalayan peaks. It is one of the remote trekking destinations of Nepal which presents an amazing view of nature with hidden Buddhist culture. This trekking route was opened for foreigners since 1982. The ancient culture and fabulous nature of Himalaya purify your inner soul as if you are walking in heaven.

 

The lower Dolpo Trek begins after having a scenic flight from Nepalgunj to Jhupal which is the entry point to Dolpo Region. Lower Dolpo trekking trail goes overpasses such as, Baga La and Numa La and finally reach to Phoksundo Lake that makes your trip remarkable in a lifetime.

 

Lower Dolpo is the remaining trekking trail of Nepal which is very rich in natural and cultural diversity and presents a beautiful scenic view with high passes, Lakes, Buddhist monasteries. The walk to Phoksundo will be one of the major highlights of this trek. It is the deepest lake in Nepal having striking water and an attractive view of the lake with Himalaya. It is also off the beaten path trekking route which is challenging homestay trekking adventure. The best time to go Dolpo trek is in March-May & Sep-Nov. Lower Dolpo is an isolated valley and it is regarded as a restricted area for trekking. For the successful trip to Lower Dolpo, we arrange special required preparation with good services.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu

Our Represented member from our Company assist you from Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu Nepal and drive to Hotel, and preparation for trip.

Day 2 Kathmandu Sightseeing

 

Our cultural tour guide takes you to show world heritage sites of Nepal such as Monkey Temple-3000 years old Temple, Old Patan City-Old king Palace, Pashupatinath-Popular Hindu Temple, and Boudhanath Stupa-biggest Buddhist Stupa. It is a full-day guided tour where our guide will explain about Nepal associating with history, Geography, religion, People and culture where you can have a cross-question to him to know about all details of Nepal.

Day 3 Kathmandu to Nepalgunj flight

 

Early morning fly to Nepalgunj which is located in the western part of Nepal near India-border. It is located in the Tarai region. It takes 50 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj. Overnight at Nepalgunj.

Day 4 Nepalgunj to Jhupal (2320m) flight (Dolpo) & Trek to Dunai 2850m 2-3 hrs walk

 

Early morning fly to Jhupal from Nepalgunj having a scenic Himalayan view which takes 40 minutes to Jhupal. Meet with trekking porters and start 2-3 hours walk to Dunai. Jhupal is a small village located in the hill from where by following Bheri River hike to Dunai village. Dunai is headquartered in the Dolpo district.

Day 5 Dunai to Tarakot 2543m 5-6 hrs walk

 

Today, you will hike to Tarakot from Dunai along with the bank of Bheri River. The trekking trail goes with deep gorges crossing the suspension bridge and silent village with lush greeneries.

Day 6 Tarakot to Laini 3265m 6 hrs walk

 

After breakfast, trek to Laini from Tarakot following the Tarap Chu River and also have time to explore Sandul Gompa. Along walk through terraced Rice field, Local villages, and silent nature of the mountain, you will reach in Laini.

Day 7 Laini to Nawarpani 3560m 6 hrs walk

As usual today too, you will trek to Nawarpani from Laini where the trekking path goes above Tarap River. By crossing ascending and descending Hills; reach to Chyugar Khola and later easy walk to Nawarpani.

Day 8 Nawarpani to Dho Tarap 4090m 7 hrs walk

 

The trekking route today ascends to Kamattarka which is situated near two Rivers and crossing narrow gorge and bushes of Roses, you will reach to Dho Tarap which is a beautiful mountain village. Enjoy the scenic beauty and Greenery from Dho Tarap.

Day 9 Rest day in Dho Tarap

 

Today is the rest day or acclimatization day for trekkers to get relax and adjust in high altitude because the next day must cross high Himalayan passes. Our guide will take to explore local villages and Monasteries also have the opportunity to live in local people and experience their mountain lifestyle. The people who live in Dho Tarap are close to the Tibetan lifestyle and they practice Bon Religion.

Day 10 Dho Tarap to Numa La Base Camp 4440m 7 hrs walk

 

Early morning, trek to Numa La Base Camp from Dho Tarap valley enjoying with beautiful lush grassland. It is an adventure day because you are heading to Numa La Base Camp through Tarap valley and Tokyu. Also, visit the monastery of China sect and trek rocky trail to Numa La Base Camp.

Day 11 Cross Numa La pass 5200m and trek to Perlung Tang 4465m 7 hrs walk

 

Today is quite a hard day due to Numa La Pass but it is more adventure in your lifetime. All the way ascend to Numa La and steep down to Perlung Tang from where one can see the amazing view of Mt. Dhaulagiri and other white Himalayan peaks.

Day 12 Cross Baga La pass 5075m and Trek to Dajok Tang 4080m 7 hrs walk

 

Like yesterday, today too we have adventure and tuff day to Dajok Tang via Baga La Pass. From Perlung Tang the trail goes steep to Baga La Pass and sees the amazing beauty of Himalaya and trek down to Dajok Tang.

Day 13 Dajok Tang to Ringmo 3600m 4 hrs walk

 

Trek along with pine and alpine vegetation by seeing amazing nature; you will reach to Ringmo which is a traditional, classical Tibetan village of the Dolpo region.

Day 14 Trek to Phoksundo Lake from Ringmo

 

From Ringmo, trek to Phoksundo Lake where we will see the Yak Caravans movie in and out of Tibetan borders. From here also can see an amazing sunset view with Himalaya. Phoksundo is an amazing place for getting relaxation and rest. Any trekkers can get peace, enjoy and also very good for doing meditation.

Day 15 Phoksundo Lake to Shyanta 2520m 6 hrs walk

 

The trekking path descends to Shyanta from Phoksundo. On the way, you will cross many medicinal herbs and reach to Shyanta via local villages.

Day 16 Shyanta to Jhupal

 

Today is the last day trek in Dolpo region, the trail moves to Jhupal along with lust forests. From Sulighat the trail goes down to Jhupal.

Day 17 Fly to Nepalgunj and to Kathmandu

 

Early morning, fly to Nepalgunj from Jhupal and fly to Kathmandu in the day time.

Day 18 Free day in Kathmandu

 

Today is a free day for shopping and rest.

Day 19 Departure to Home

 

Our representative from our company assists in your departure to Tribhuvan International Airport Kathmandu.
